GLOBAL MALT

The world-wide recognition of Germany as one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of excellent brewing malt might be explained by a combination of century-old traditions and generations of experience in malting business.

Such traditions and experience constitute the roots of GlobalMalt, which has united three large German malting companies: Schill Malz Worms, Tivoli Malz Hamburg and Thywissen Malz Muelheim/Ruhr.

With six malthouses in Germany GlobalMalt is today not only the leading German malthouse but also one of the main exporters of malt worldwide. In order to live up to these expectations the company was named in 2000 GlobalMalt.

Malt Color (EBC) Application

Pilsner Malt (Pale Malt or Lager Malt)

 To be used exculsively for pale beers (Pilsner, Lager) or as an additive in variabel quantities for almost all other types of beer.
Vienna Malt (Amber Malt)
11.2 - 17.6
 For strong light beers and festival beers, or for later coloring of pale beers.

Munich Malt

 Type 1: Pale
5-7
 For dark beers, festival beera, strong beers, malt beers and stouts, or for reinforcing the malty, aromatic character of medium-colored beers (e.g. Alt-old style German top fermented beer)
Type 2: Dark
10-14
Wheat Malt (White Malt)
3.8 - 5.1
 For brewwing wheat beers or as an additive for top fermented beers (e.g. Kolsch - strong lager, or Berlin white beer)
Cologne Malt (Kolsch Malt)
8.8 - 11.7
 For brewing Kolsch-type beers. The malt is being produced in the only malting in the Cologne area, Germany.
