Ian Ward obtained his first degree, in chemistry from the University of Birmingham, England in 1988, this was followed by a PhD in the School of Carbohydrate Chemistry  at the same institution.
In 1993 joined he Savilles Clarification, then part of the Laporte Group, as an R&D chemist.  Published a number of papers on beer clarification and filed a UK Patent for a novel wort clarification procedure.
He was promoted to the post of Clarification Specialist in 1996 taking responsibility for both Commercial and Technical functions in the South of the UK and North America.  In December 2000 joined Brewers Wholesale Supply Inc. as Technical Director providing clarification and stabilization solutions to the brewing and wine industries.  He has presented at numerous conferences and meetings throughout North America and Europe on the topics of enzymology, beer clarification and stabilization and latterly the malt and hop industries. Following the acquisition of Brewers Wholesale by Rahr Malting and the subsequent name change to Brewers Supply Group in June 2004 he moved into commercial management and held the role of Commercial VP, and from August 2006  was promoted to the role of President. In March 2013 Brewers Supply Group was rebranded as BSG Craftbrewing.

Bill has a Ph.D. in Biology from Princeton University , 1980, a Diploma in Brewing Science and Technology from the Siebel Institute, 1992 , and ten years professional brewing experience both with a two-vessel pub system and a four-vessel, 50-bbl brewhouse.

Chad Hatlestad, B.Sc.

Chad Hatlestad is the Director of Sales – Eastern Region, for BSG Craftbrewing. He joined BSG in 2004 as Technical Sales Manager of the Mountain West territory where he continues to maintain and expand sales, as well as directing sales in the territories east. Prior to joining BSG, Chad spent 10 years thriving in breweries and wineries throughout the West, and was appointed Brewmaster at Lindens Brewing Co., Fort Collins, CO in July of 2000. Chad earned a B.S. in Industrial Technology from the University of WI, and his Brewing Certification from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling, London, UK. He is also a long time member of the Master Brewers Association of America, Institute of Brewing and Distilling, Brewers Association, and sits on the Steering Committee for the Rocky Mountain Microbrewers Symposium.
